CAMP BLUESTONE

Now is the time to make your summer plans for your child to enjoy a great experience at the Presbytery's Camp Bluestone.  Schedules and registration are available on the table outside the chapel!
Bream offers a 'campership' of 50% of the camp fees--up to $100 for each camper.  Let us know when you register and let the Presbytery know that Bream will be paying part of your fees.

FOOD PANTRY

Don't forget the Food Pantry.  We have folks coming in each week in need of something to eat.   Its suggested that you bring canned meats, potatoes, peanut butter, cereal, macaroni & cheese, spaghetti sauce and pasta, soups, dried beans, and cornbread mix.  Please remember these folks as you shop during the week.  Winter is a hard time for some of these people with utility bills and trying to buy a little Christmas for their families.  Its a good way to spread joy and happiness with little effort.

ORGANIST'S POSITION

Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charleston is currently searching for a part-time organist/accompanist.  This is a salaried position with generous compensation.  The pipe organ was refurbished in 2006.  The organist will accompany the adult choir and must also have above average piano skills.  Choir rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings and there are two Sunday morning worship services, 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.  For further information and/or to apply please contact:

READ A GOOD BOOK LATELY?

Have you read a good book lately?  One that has encouraged or inspired you in your Christian life?  A book that has deepened your understanding of God?  A book that has challenged you to grow in faith?

We are looking for a good book to recommend for Bream's summer reading.  If you have read a book that has made a significant impact on your life, let us know.  And watch out for some reading recommendations, coming before summer.

SUMMER SUNDAY SPECIAL EVENTS

Everyone is invited to special Sunday School classes, all ages, one Sunday each month of June, July and August.

The theme is CHRIST'S WORK - RECONCILING THE WORLD TO GOD

Dates:  JUNE 22; JULY 20, and AUGUST 17

Time:  9:45 AM

Place:  Bream Dining Room

A light breakfast will be served.

BREAM ANNUAL PICNIC

The annual picnic will be on June 15 at 4:00 pm at the Kanawha State Forest.  Bring a dessert or picnic side dish to share.

SPIRITUALITY CENTERS, LABYRINTHS and LECTIO DIVINA

Through the summer on Sunday mornings there will be special offerings on Sunday mornings between the two services - 9:45 - 10:50 am.  In addition to the monthly special events for all ages there will be opportunities to experience for spiritual nurture that do not fit the traditional classroom Bible study mode.

Once each month the Dining Room will be turned into a Spirituality Center.  Four or five stations will be set up to guide the participant into a time of spiritual reflection and prayer.  The Spirituality Center will be open between the services and following the 11am service.  The Spirituality Center is a place to be with God.  It is designed to help you put aside the thoughts and daily distractions and help you enter into a time of quiet and reflection.  You may enter the Spirituality Center alone, or as a couple or a family.  There is no teacher or leader but instructions are given to guide your time in Bible reading, prayer, listening, meditating and personal expression.  Though a Spirituality Center is a place of quiet it is appropriate to all ages including children.  Additional activities will be offered in the John  Parks room for children and for those who want to share their thoughts and experiences with the Spirituality Center.

A labyrinth, which is an ancient aid to thoughtful meditation will be available as part of the Spirituality Center.  A labyrinth is a set path that is designed to help us slow down, to reflect on our Christian journey and to ask for God's guidance in the journey.

On other Sunday's there will be an opportunity to learn the practice of spiritual reading of Scripture or "lectio divina".  In a simple 4 step process, Bible reading helps us to reflect on our own place in God's plan.
